User Scenarios:

Jess is an 18 year old university student, who commutes into university from busy London. On her daily commute, jess uses her phone to catch up on daily topics, trends and gossip, using her app where all the information is updated daily with different context. Jess likes to use this app as it is a cool, trendy layout which is perfect for her age range.



Emma is a 22-year-old graduate, on a graduate scheme in fashion marketing. Emma has to stay on top of all the latest trends, news, and gossip in order to communicate via social media with her companys audience. Emma downloaded this app, that helps her view the hottest trends, latest gossip and all things fashion from the click of a button, along with humourous content as you flick through.

Katie is a 17-year-old sixth form student, the first thing she does every morning is check her social media apps when she wakes up to see what the latest gossip/news is and the newest trends. The GRLZZZ app is perfect for Katie as everything she enjoys viewing on several different apps, is all in one place delivering the content in a fun and quirky way. Katie clicks on the app which first presents her with the login page, once she taps through the login part she is presented with the menu, in which she can click from four different options, Katie is desperate for a new coat with the cold weather coming so clicks on the fashion option for some help, which she is shown different options of outerwear that she likes. Katie is very happy with the outcome as it allows her to see exactly what she wanted in a quick and easy format.

Branding of my own App

When starting to design my branding I wanted the imagery of it to be reflective of the name, a little bit punk and rebellious due to the demographic and the links to empowerment for young girls to use creating a fun platform. I started the branding off in Adobe Colour, looking through all the different shades that I could and wanted to use I then applied this to my work, for example: I thought the pink fire would display a quirky fun style and the old English writing was something I played around with whilst sketching to get an idea of how it would look in once in photoshop, which I was happy with the result. I just uploaded my sketches and then used the polygonal lasso tool to select the sections I needed and then fill coloured them with a solid purple, lastly adding the linear burn to create the transparent effect. In terms of marketing when it comes to my own product, I designed a poster/banner that could target my audience through web and in print. The ad could be used on small banners that pop up on social media platforms or even on news/lifestyle websites. The design concept of the ad is the dollar signifies a ticket, which is a pass to access the “GRLZZZ Club” meaning the app. Next to the pass is an IPhone displaying the front page of the app so that people are aware it is a mobile application. The pink colours used help it to stand out and create a girly aesthetic with a fun vibe.

Cosmopolitan is a worldwide fashion magazine for woman, the website is very similar in terms of the context that I want to portray in my app. What makes my app different from their website, is the fact it will all be in the palm of your hand, all on one platform. I tested out cosmopolitans UK’s app in order to see what actual competition is out there, from what I found their app doesn’t actually provide any form of interactivity with its user, you just have the monthly published issue of their magazine in which you can download and read. The Sun newspaper and well known British tabloid newspaper have recently adding a channel to the discover page on snapchat, allowing their news and gossip to be targeted at a young audience in a fun creative way.
